This tapestry, an XVIIth century tapestry from the Paris workrooms has conserved for the most part its original colours but has been heavily restored. Large areas, such as the length of the tree trunks, have been clumsily repaired with brown coloured wool.
With the client’s agreement, the tapestry was sent to our workrooms in Madagascar where large scale projects are undertaken; the areas treated with the brown wool were entirely rewoven. The reweaving of designs is undertaken, where possible, by the reference to photographs of an identical tapestry.
