Conservation-restoration of textiles

The conservation-restoration of textiles covers a wide realm of objects : ethnographic textiles, archaeological textiles, civil or religious items of costume, fashion accessories, banners and flags, furnishing textiles….

The conservation-restoration treatments are not invasive and aim to re-establish the object’s functional and aesthetic values and appearance.

Having been cleaned by surface cleaning and in some cases having undergone a subsequent cleaning treatment, having been laid flat or put into its original shape, the textiles are generally consolidated by laid couching stitches on appropriate textile supports.
